A few weeks back a friend and I spent a nice evening out drinking with the folks from Miller Lite. This was our first exposure to The Carp and Miller Lite’s Jeep Giveaway. My friend was able to win two Miller Lite t-shirts and I walked away a Qualifier to win a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Fast forward to last night and we were on the road again, this time we were headed to Loopy’s and the Jeep Finals!

Loopy’s is located just west of Chippewa Falls on State HWY 29. We arrived promptly at 6:20pm which, according to the flier I possessed, was 5 minutes too late to sign up. Luckily the flier was wrong and we plenty of time to stand in the massive line of qualifiers! There was much discussion about how many qualifiers there actually were and I think by the end of the count they numbered around 200.

There were hundreds of people out at Loopy’s this evening. Parking had progressed across the street and down a dirt road for almost a mile. From the outside Loopy’s doesn’t look like it’s an extremely large place, but when you get to the “back yard” you’ll find plenty of space to house all of these people. Outside we find 3 beach volleyball courts, 12 large picnic tables, and the huge party tent with many fold-up tables and chairs underneath it. This is where we were able to buy our food and drink tickets at $3 each.

//

Inside, the main bar is very well-kept and looks fairly new and modernized. There are lots of video machines and TVs throughout the place. We’re not sure exactly when the kitchen closes, but there were a lot of people enjoying both food and drink inside the bar.

The menu at Loopy’s is pretty much full service and seemed to only lack Steaks. They have “Appeteasers” such as Potato Skins and Cheese Curds, 5 different Salads and many Side Dishes. Their “South of the Border” selection includes 3 different Quesadillas, Tacos, Burritos, and Loopy’s World Famous Nachos Grande. They also have 7 different Sandwiches, 8 different Chicken choices from sandwiches to dinners like Chicken Cordon Blue, 6 different Half-pound Burgers, 5 different Pitas including “Veggie Melt”, and 5 different pizza choices including basic cheese or Make-Your-Own. They also have a kid’s menu and an All-U-Care-to-Eat Pizza Lunch Buffed Served Monday thru Friday from 11:30am until 2pm. On Fridays you can enjoy their Fish and Shrimp specials.

It wasn’t until almost 3 hours later at 9:26pm that I finally reached the end of the line of qualifiers… talk about a long line! It was almost like waiting for a roller-coaster ride except I was able to drink beer at the same time. At the end of the line I found out that I had to reach into a stuffed dummy’s butt to grab my ticket to see if I made the Finals. The entire qualifying experience was also rated for us by another qualifier, her name is Pam Humpal.

This is what was said about her experience as penned by her friend Sid:
“I arrived with high – no low expectations. Here I am in the Finalist Line. This is very exciting! Miller Lite put me here. I love Miller Lite! Miller Lite made a lot of people happy tonight losers or winners – It was a good time. Isn’t American Enterprise great! Outsourcing sucks. See you on EauClaireBars.com!”
After going through the qualifier line we were able to mill about and get to know some of the others that had come out for the good time. T-pain plus 10 said, “We love bartenders”.

I decided fairly early that I didn’t want to really take a Sausage Factor reading… there were just too many people to count! So instead I chose an area of the crowd and applied that ratio to our entire experience. Our sample included 100 guys and 67 girls for a factor of 1.49 guys for every girl. Not bad, surprisingly. There were many families out this evening and the Attractiveness Rating was very skewed. It seemed almost like we were sitting in a family restaurant when we took in the view of the crowd. We ultimately decided that the rating was around a 6/10 and our female companion stated that from her perspective it was a 4/10. Throughout the evening the experience pretty much stays the same until everyone starts leaving so we’ll just leave these readings be.

It wasn’t until 12:24am that Debbie Monroe from The Carp finally made it down to the last two qualifiers. Needless to say I wasn’t one of them… oh well! I was able to get some pictures of the winner, her name is Jayme Hintzman:

Since the contest was over, things started to die down and we took our second set of readings. The Sausage Factor was now at a 1.73 with 26 guys and 15 girls, and the Attractiveness Rating slumped a bit lower to a 5/10.

There were a lot of staff on hand this evening to serve the hundreds of guests Loopy had over for the giveaway. We noticed that Loopy is a down-to-earth guy and did much of the work himself as things started to slow up. He’s a hard worker and takes great care of his bar. It’s fairly difficult to come up with a comprehensive review during an event such as this, but I was rather impressed with Loopy’s ability to take care of this many people. The experience we had was a great one and the only thing bringing down the Beer Rating is the Attractiveness Rating so I would have to say we have a solid 4/5 Beers. You might even be able to argue that the 5th beer is half-full!

Beer Rating: 4/5
Sausage Factor: 1.61
Attractiveness Rating: 5/10

We’ve all heard the commercials on the radio about the Silver Dollar Saloon & Brick Co. a.k.a. “The Buck” in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Well we’re here to tell you the inside story on this historic location. Today’s blog is going to come in two parts, one for the bar itself and then another for the Carp Calendar Cutie contest that was going on this evening.

First off we were able to get a few words from the bartenders as well as the owners of The Buck Damon and Julie Anderson.

The Buck: At first glance, the Silver Dollar Saloon presents a rustic, historic atmosphere that metamorphosis’s into a trendy bar with great music, stellar drinks and amazing people (Bartender).
1909 – Pabst Warehouse1920 – Pickadillees Bora “Speakeasy” through Prohibition1946 – Giomona Restaurant opens in the basement based on the Camaraderie in Eau Claire1996 – Bar purchased by family members of Giomona2005 – In October the Andersons purchase the bar and keep making improvements onward and upward(Damon Anderson – Owner)We would have to agree that the two new owners have what it takes to push The Buck in the direction that they want to head. To address this opinion we’ll move on to some more information about the bar itself.

Upon arrival I decide to order up some food to see how the service is. I ordered a Grilled Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and fries. I didn’t have to wait long for my meal and enjoyed it while we started in on our first pitcher of beer for $7.50. Drinks for the evening would move from beer to Long Islands after we find out that they are the special for the evening at $3 for a nice tall one. The Long Islands are great at The Buck and the best part is they are not made from a mix! The drinks for the evening are not cheap, but not over-priced as well. Most of the guys and girls out tonight would be drinking the $3 bottles that were staged about the bar for the festivities.

The Buck sports a short menu with Appetizers & Munchies (we enjoyed the nachos later in the evening when more of our party arrived), Salads, 4 choices of Burgers or Build-Your-Own, 8 different Sandwiches along with 2 different Wraps, and Dinners such as Steak, Chicken, Fish, Shrimp, Pork Chops, and even BBQ Ribs. You can also choose from a number of Side Dishes and Soup. The kitchen closes at 10pm so if you’re hungry drop in before then.

The layout of the bar is pretty basic. The main bar is lined by some pretty stable bar chairs. There are also a number of tables that you can sit at to enjoy their food and drinks. Downstairs you can find booths set up for a more private dining experience. There is a side room that normally sports two pool tables and some dart boards, but this evening the room would be cleaned out as they build the stage for the Carp Calendar Cutie contest. There are some older TVs in this area as well, but they were not turned on for the evening.

We noted the history of this building as it is fairly old with hardwood flooring and a very interesting ceiling. In fact, we actually started a conversation about what type of material was used for the ceiling, it was either stamped brass or colored tin we finally decided. Another thing we noted was that the ventilation and cooling for the evening was going to come from some ceiling fans and as predicted this side room became a sauna from all of us hot-blooded men enjoying the contest.

There are two restrooms for men in The Buck. One just has a toilet in it, but the other has an enclosed stall, urinal and so much gang-related graffiti that I have to wonder just how many gangs are operating out of the college town Menomonie… hmm.

When we arrived at 8:15pm we noted that there were 14 guys and 4 girls and that it was mostly an older crowd. Since the contest was set to officially begin at 10pm we took our Sausage Factor and Attractiveness Rating measurements at 9:30. Just before the 10 o’clock push we counted 59 guys and 18 girls for a Sausage Factor of 3.27, but I guess I would expect that at a contest like this… Right?! The Attractiveness Rating was actually quite good tonight and weighed in at a solid 9/10. Please note that this rating did not include the actual contestants for the evening so if you want to bump that rating based on the pictures for the contest feel free to do so!

Our bartenders were very busy for basically the entire evening. We were able to take just a quick moment for this picture of two of them:

Once the contest begins, there is barely any elbow room which may or may not be a pun based on the Eau Claire bar titled “The Elbow Room”. The place is so packed that this secondary room has literally become a sauna and so I made sure to order up some ice water to take with me when I would begin taking pictures of the event. The contest began somewhere around 10 and ended at 11:15pm.

At midnight we took our second set of readings and found 17 guys and 8 girls. Things definitely died down after the contest ended. The Sausage Factor came down to a 2.13 and the Attractiveness Rating was still high at an 8/10 which we were happy to see. We were also able to talk to the owners and get some valuable information from them. You can see one of the owners here in this picture, her name’s Julie and she’s the lovely lady on the right.

Overall we give The Buck a 4/5 Beer Rating. We like the layout of the place, it’s nice and simple. The staff is very friendly and though they were very busy for the majority of the evening they took time to answer our questions in a helpful manner. We were very satisfied with our experience and hope to be wow’d in the near future as they continue with their improvements. As the commercial states: You’ll get good luck at The Buck!!

Beer Rating: 4/5
Sausage Factor: 2.69
Attractiveness Rating: 8/10

Well, it’s after noon and I am finally able to get myself together enough to write this review. Last night was definitely a different sort of fun. But let’s move on to the topic at hand – The Stones Throw.

The Stones Throw is located in downtown Eau Claire at 304 Eau Claire Street. Originally we had intended to do a Downtown Double Header which is to say we had planned on reviewing two downtown bars that were relatively close to each other. But before we decided which two we wanted to review I happened across some information on the Internet about Wednesday nights being Open Mic Night at The Stones Throw. Since we enjoy live music we decided to chance it and head on down while placing the possibility of a Double Header on the back-burner.

The Stones Throw isn’t the largest bar in town, but they definitely make use of the space that they have. Immediately upon entering we are able to view the main bar area with 4 round tables adorned with bar stools spread throughout the room, a line of bar stools that ran the length of the bar, and 4 small tables along the wall opposite the bar. After picking up a pitcher of Miller Lite for $5 I took a walk upstairs to take a look at the “mezzanine”. This is where I would find more tables set apart from the main bar for a more private setting. There are two video game machines and even a shuffleboard game that you can play up here on the mezzanine, just talk to the bartender if you want to play. Although we didn’t make it downstairs, that is where you would find “The Rock Bottom Lounge”, an area with pool tables, darts, and a jukebox.

I also took a trip into the restroom to see if there was a difference between The Stones Throw and our latest less-than-spectacular experience. I would have to say that I was pretty impressed with how clean the restrooms are at The Stones Throw. They smell good, the soap works, and the toilets come with seats! We were also fortunate enough to have a female perspective along with us this evening and it was noted that the women’s restrooms were very nice as well. In her words, there are pretty “Ansel Adams” framed pictures for the ladies to enjoy while they are freshening up.

After taking in the layout of the place we took a look at the menu for food and drink specials. For hungry patrons The Stones Throw can provide “Starter Munchies” (as labeled on the menu) including some Homemade Curds and Onion Rings, 9 different “Scrumptious Sandwiches”, as well as Soup and Salad. They also have “Mexican Specialties” including Burritos, Tacos, 4 kinds of Quesadillas, Nachos, and even Taco Salad. If you like burgers you will only get three different choices, but I suppose one burger is going to be just like the rest. One of our party members decided to have one of these burgers and placed his order right around 9:45pm just ahead of the 10pm kitchen closing. However, our bartender was unable to find us when the burger was ready (even though our table was right next to the bar), but when it did finally arrive she let us know it was “on the house”. It is still unknown whether the burger was worth the wait or not.

Our Sausage Factor and Attractiveness Ratings took place at 10pm as per the normal schedule. The Sausage Factor weighed in at a hefty 2.67 with 16 guys and 6 girls. The Attractiveness Rating was midway between a 6 and a 7. We were also able to find what could be an interesting logo for our Sausage Factor thanks to a little help from the local video machine!

It was just as we had finished our first pitcher and taken our readings that the House Band began to play. The House Band includes Jason Introwitz, Phil Joudis, and Scott Milz as lead guitar and vocals. Scott even took a trip out into the crowd during his guitar solo. These guys were voted the best band of the evening, by our party, for their great music and variety.

Around midnight we took our second set of readings and counted 17 guys and 3 girls giving us a Sausage Factor of 5.67… Ouch! The Attractiveness Rating was still a 6.5, but it’s really hard to judge when there are only three girls.

The other musicians to grace the stage this evening included in no particular order: Caleb Horne, Dan Korn, Tony Basley, Charles Morgan, Michael, and Eric.

The live music made for a nice change and great escape from the top 40 DJs that we have become used to at most of the other bars we patronize. It was because the music was so good that we ended up staying at The Stones Throw for the entire evening instead of reviewing another bar (either that or we had too much to drink and thought it best to stick around and sober up)! I would have to say that the live music definitely distinguishes The Stones Throw from the other bars that we go to.

Once the bands were done it seemed that the night was done as well. The final Sausage Factor reading was off the charts as end of the evening slowed to a long crawl with a multitude of men and one woman. At least she was good looking and enjoyed dancing. I found out that her name was Teresa because she was brave enough to come over and ask me for a Cranberry Vodka. She also expressed her interest in our bar reviewing process, we’ll have to see I guess since I’ve already spoken to Lynne about coming on board with us.

Overall our experience at The Stones Throw was satisfying. The service was somewhat slow for those of us that arrived early in the evening when there was just one bartender, but it definitely got better as the night went on. The layout is very nice for the size of the bar and the restrooms are very clean and well-kept. The drinks are nice and cold and not too expensive either. The live music was great and I guess you could say it made up for the lack of women. The Sausage Factor is probably solely responsible for bringing the rating down to a 4/5. I made certain to ask John (who I believe is one of the owners of the bar) about this lack of femininity and he said that Ladies Night is definitely the night to see the girls.

Here’s what he has to say about Ladies Night:

Last week was awesome. 130 people, 80 of whom were ladies. We have DJ DZ and Breakneck the Mage doing their thing and taking requests. $5 all you can drink Bacardi, Rail or domestic draft beers (John).
This Thursday we will be heading over to Menomonie to check out the last Carp Calendar Cutie contest of the year at the Silver Dollar Saloon and Brick Co. a.k.a. “The Buck”, so maybe sometime soon we’ll check out Ladies Night at The Stones Throw. We’d love to see more girls there!

Beer Rating: 4/5
Sausage Factor: 10
Attractiveness Rating: 7/10

Night 2 and the guys and I decided to head out to Double Days. There was some talk of O’leary’s but we ended up staying at Double Days for the duration of the evening. Double Days is located at 3020 London Road in Eau Claire.

Tonight would bring a change in the line-up, instead of the normal three amigos I brought in three new faces and the four of us started the evening with some pre-bar drinking. It would also change the blog some because I have picked up a digital camera to record our escapades. After a few beers and some mixed drinks the four of us piled into my Expedition and we rolled up to Double Days at approximately 10pm give or take a few minutes. I had been drinking beer so far so I ordered up a pitcher of Bud Light and let the others keep going with their mixed drinks. For some reason I find it easier to write when I’m drinking beer… if I drink mixed drinks I definitely start thinking of other ways to spend my time haha! Sometime during the evening one of my friends was able to talk the bartender into making a favorite of his, I don’t think it has a name but this is what it contains: 5 shots of Vodka, 1 bottle of Red Bull, and Mountain Dew to top it off, all served in a nice big pitcher with a straw!

We decided to belly up to the bar instead of finding a table. I think this was for easy bartender access, but who knows really?? Our first Sausage Factor head count occurred at 10:19pm and our initial reading weighed in at a 1.64 which is light when compared to our first reading at Whiskey Dicks. 46 men and 28 women were enjoying drinks and conversation in the main bar area. Things looked promising and we hoped that the Sausage Factor would be on the decline as the night went on…

Since I had initiated the attractiveness rating previously at Whiskey Dicks I made sure to keep this going by having my new panel of judges rate the girls. All four of us came to a consensus of 7 being the magic number for the beginning of this evening.

With the Sausage Factor established and the attractiveness rating completed it was time to check out the layout for Double Days. I was able to count around 9 video machines, 8 tvs playing sports and TNT and 2 tvs that didn’t look like they worked, 5 dart boards, a couple scratch card machines, and 1 pool table all in the main bar. We felt that the unused tvs could be taken away. We asked around about how well the darts and dart boards were kept up and received an 8 out of 10 scale rating from those that were playing.

[Image][Image]
There is a dance floor area located in front of the DJ, however it remained unused for most of the night until finally two girls and a guy made the trek into this barren land. Other than those three we didn’t see any other dancing all night. We had previously been to Double Days when there was a lot of action to be had on the dance floor so we wondered why it was so different. Our conclusion was that since CooperFest 2007 was happening downtown on Water Street, the normal dance mob was just simply displaced to another bar.

Double Days also has a full service menu with Appetizers, Calzones, Pizza, Salads and Seafood, Chicken Sandwiches, 2 different Wraps, 6 different Grinders (including a Veggie), and 14 different types of Burgers. They will also serve you wine if you desire. On their wine list you will find Merlot, Chardonnay, White Zinfandel, and Riesling. The bummer is the Kitchen closes promptly at 10:30pm so even if we were hungry we had already missed our chance by the time we took a look at the menu.

In addition to the main bar, there is a side room that we quickly labeled “The Back Pool Room”. Here we would find 4 pool tables (1 of which being used), a few tables, and 2 tvs that were either not working or not turned on. The music in this room was a mix of rock and metal and seemed to be drowned out by the music in the main bar. You’ll notice the pool room if you need to use the restroom at all during the night, because you will go right past it on your way. In the restroom you will find 1 porcelain and 2 stainless steel urinals. There are two toilets, however each of them is missing the seat and one isn’t even enclosed. The restroom left a lot to be desired. It was in the restroom that I was able to witness the results of what would later be described to me as a somewhat one-sided fight. A gentlemen (I can call him that right??) entered the restroom with two girls and a bleeding gash on his head while I was in there. Apparently another guy had taken a glass bottle and knocked this guy over the head. By the time I was able to exit the restroom the other guy had already been escorted out. Even at the end of the night the bloody rag and paper towels would be found sitting in the restroom sink.

Once I had taken in the layout of the bar and perused the menu provided to me by a bartender, it was time to order up another pitcher of Bud Light and get another Sausage Factor reading. It was 12:25am and the new head count weighed in at 35 men to the 13 women or in other words a very disappointing 2.69 guys for every girl. Damn… the only thing good about that number is that it contains 69. Alright then time to get up close and personal with the bartenders.

We quickly directed our attention to our bartenders: Crystal, Terah, and Heather. Crystal seemed to be particularly energetic and facilitated our needs well. These three ladies were very busy making drinks for patrons, but they did find the time to talk to us and give us a little info about themselves and the job. It was described that the experience you have ordering drinks will depend on how the bartenders feel they are being treated. If you are treating them well you are going to get great service, so remember to tip the fine ladies and leave the attitude at the door. Also, apparently there’s a shift change in the patrons of the bar at around 1am because that’s when these girls say the assholes arrive, good thing we got there at 10pm or we’d be included in that list right??

We also met up with the Jello-shot Girl, Kylee. She is very down to earth and took some time to chat with us and even let us take some pictures.

[Image][Image]
It was nearing the end of the night and you could tell because this is when inhibitions are left to the wayside and people start milling around more. We were able to meet some of the patrons and hear a tale about how one of them had passed out on some random lady’s porch on his 21st birthday only to be escorted home by the cops. I’m sure that sounds familiar to some of you out there doesn’t it??

Finally the end of the evening arrived and we took our final readings to find that there was a Sausage Factor of 2.31 guys to every girl, but also that the attractiveness rating had dropped to a 5 out of 10. I initiated the rating with a 6, but this rating was pulled downward after discussion with the rest of the panel. It was interesting to see how things panned out from the start of the night to the end of the night. It’s been decided that we will not use a star rating for the bars that we are reviewing. Instead we are going to use a beer rating and Double Days weighed in at a 3/5 beers. The layout is ok though somewhat cramped when it’s time to head to the restroom. The bartenders are definitely fun and attractive and give a lot of energy to the place. The Sausage Factor and attractiveness rating definitely attributed to the low score, but the bloody rags and seat-less toilets had a bit to do with it as well. We’re going to have to stop by again to see if the rating rises.

It’s also apparent that we will need a woman’s view on these experiences if we really want to find out how to bring the girls out. Someone that can tell us what would make each bar a more desirable destination for them. Maybe I’ll talk to Lynne Jones from Whiskey Dicks she is a journalism major after all hmm… Stay tuned for the next bar review, hopefully it will be better than this one (for my sake, if no one else’s)!

Beer Rating: 3/5
Sausage Factor: 2.21
Attractiveness Rating: 5/10

Well here we go, our first review and it’s quite a good one at that. Whiskey Dicks is located at 943 Harlem Street just inside the Altoona city limits and right behind the TV13 Tower. Some of you may remember Whiskey Dicks as the Wild Mustang.

There were three of us participating in the festivities tonight and I’ll withhold the names of my two friends to protect the not-so-innocent. The first order of business was to purchase a pitcher of beer to get things started and since we’ve enjoyed their Guinness before we ordered one up. $14 for a pitcher of beer might be a bit much for some, but ice cold Guiness served in refrigerated glasses goes down sooo smooth.

After situating ourselves with our beer and a table it was time for the head count. We arrived at the table at 10:11pm and currently on the premises there were 9 guys and 4 girls. These numbered the people we were able to see in the main bar area, it would not be until later that we would travel out to the tiki bar and find more people (nice addition to the place btw). One thing I decided I would do is count the ratio of guys to girls at every bar we go to and establish a rating that from here forward will be referred to as the “Sausage Factor”. At this time the Sausage Factor in the main bar was 2.25 guys for every girl, hopefully that would change as the night went on! Right?!

We also decided to add a rating system for the attractiveness of the girls you will find at a bar. The rating for the girls so far was a 7, but by the end of the night that number would change to an 8 out of 10. We’re going to make this rating system a tough one to break so you will most likely never see a 10 out of 10 on any of my reviews.

The next thing we took in was the layout of Whiskey Dicks. Overall I was impressed with the manner in which the bar had been redesigned into three separate themes. When you enter you will find yourself in a nice dining area away from the noise of the DJ and the dance floor. You of course get to hear the music, but its not going to drown out your conversation as you enjoy their extensive menu. When you go into Whiskey Dicks you don’t really get the impression that its a sit-down eating establishment like you would at Northwoods or Applebees, but you will be surprised with the selection they provide with their menu. The menu is full service with Appetizers, Burgers, Soups and Salads, Torina-style pizza, Calzones, Sandwiches, and Entrees that include Seafood, Steak, and Chicken. We were told they have full kitchen services until Midnight and pizza is available even after that time from Thursday through Saturday. There is also a large barrel containing free peanuts that can be had by everyone in the bar, so if you’re on a budget and just want to pay for drinks you can. Of course, when you drink more because of the salty peanuts it’s not my fault!

The next area contains the dance floor, tables, the rest of the main bar, and a VIP area. The VIP area is roped off and contains leather couches, a couple tvs and two “mood” lamps. There were two people in the VIP area for most of the night so apparently it does get used. The DJ was playing a mix of rock and R&B. We were able to listen to both current and classic hits. There wasn’t any dancing going on for pretty much the entire night, so if you are looking for a dance floor to shake your money-maker I wouldn’t choose Thursday as the night to head to Whiskey Dicks. I have been there on a Friday and Saturday though and there is a lot of dancing to participate in and watch on both of those nights.

The final “drinking” area is located out on the patio. The tiki bar is nice and sets itself apart from the hustle and bustle of the main bar. The setting is a nice island theme complete with umbrellas and a waterfall. A large beach volleyball court also is located in this area so if you like to play you may wish to see how they set up their leagues. There is even a beanbag toss game to play if you like that sort of thing and want to pass the time. The patio and tiki bar are definitely the place to go for casual conversation and atmosphere. It is probably this casual atmosphere that brought about a change in the Sausage Factor for this evening, because out on the patio the ratio of men to women changed from a depressing 2.25:1 to a solid 1:1. If you drop by Whiskey Dicks and decide to change venues because you don’t see enough women, make sure you head on out to the patio before making such a hasty decision!

[Image][Image]
After taking in the layout it was time to converse about the wait staff, because the wait staff becomes an extension of any bar’s mood and appearance. If you have an energetic and attractive wait staff you will have happy customers. Here at Whiskey Dicks the waitresses are known as Whiskey Chicks. In addition to discussing how attractive the wait staff was, it was also time for our second pitcher; we chose Samuel Adams at a going rate of $10.50. While we started in on the second pitcher, one of my friends had to mention how he was greatly impressed by the bartender serving drinks in the first area, especially the tattoo located on her lower back. He was so impressed (read: attracted to her) that we had to have our waitress Lynne ask the bartender what the tattoo meant. We found out that the tattoo that his “Mistress of the Orient” has means “Silver Bead” in Korean.

Now I need to take some time out to talk about our waitress for the evening. My friends and I were definitely impressed with her. Lynne Jones, or Jonesie as she likes to be called, has a very lively and likeable disposition. She is very helpful, very knowledgeable, and very considerate. When we had questions about the bar she had all of the answers. In fact, I don’t think this review would have been half as extensive as it is if it hadn’t been for her courteous service. As the night went on she was happy to provide us with whatever we wanted. The peanuts we had been eating were kind of stale so she brought us some new ones from behind the counter. We had questions about the menu and even though we weren’t hungry she gave us all of the information we wanted. When we wanted to go out on the patio she changed out our glass containers for plastic ones. The next time you head out to Whiskey Dicks make sure you ask for Jonesie if you want great service.

Well just like the night ended, this is where my review is going to end. After much discussion it was decided that Whiskey Dicks is a “Very Fun and Energetic Bar” as labeled by our three panel judges. If we were using stars we’d definitely have to weigh in at close to, if not totally a 5/5. The layout is great because you are able to experience multiple levels of enjoyment. The wait staff is very energetic and attractive. Stay tuned for the next bar review, hopefully it will be as good as this one (for my sake, if no one else’s)!

Beer Rating: 5/5
Sausage Factor: 1.63
Attractiveness Rating: 8/10
